Outdoor Dining Park City

New York City has entered Phase 2 of its reopening, which means some of our favorite restaurants are back up and running and serving meals al fresco. This news couldn't come at a better time, especially for those of us who are on our last legs of a three-month kitchen marathon and can't stand the thought of toiling over another meal. So, whether you're craving a plate of perfectly grilled octopus or the best poulet rôti in town, put on the new Ulla Johnson dress you've been dying to wear and head outside to enjoy a meal while watching a city come back to life.
Cafe Luxembourg
The lovely terrace of this beloved Upper West Side institution is now open for dinner and weekend brunch service. We recommend French onion soup, the signature Luxemburger, and profiteroles for dessert. Now that's a perfect meal.
Souvlaki GR
The Lower East Side location of Souvlaki GR is like a slice of Mykonos in Manhattan. And now with outdoor dining, it truly feels like a typical seaside taverna. The skewers, homemade Loukaniko sausage, and lamb chops are a must, as are all the spreads and desserts.
Pastis
A meal at Pastis instantly cures even the worst case of wanderlust. Lobster frites and a chilled bottle of Bandol Rosé on the terrace will help you forget about this year's cancelled European holiday.
Avra Madison
Hands down one of the best Greek restaurants in town, Avra has outdoor seating at its Midtown and Madison Avenue locations. Order the grilled octopus and a bottle of Assyrtiko and thank us later.
Melba's
Comfort food favorites like Southern fried chicken with eggnog waffles and BBQ turkey meatloaf coupled with the warm hospitality of proprietor Melba Wilson make this Harlem destination—now with outdoor seating—your socially distanced home away from home.
Sant Ambroeus
A dreamy location for a long leisurely lunch or a romantic dinner al fresco, this West Village outpost of the Milanese empire is situated on one of the prettiest corners of the city. Menu musts include the artichoke salad, the linguine with clams, and of course, a slice of the heavenly Principessa cake.
Le Crocodile
French brasserie classics like roast chicken with crispy frites and leeks vinaigrette are executed perfectly at this hot spot tucked inside Williamsburg's industrial-glam Wythe Hotel. Now, the garden terrace is open for outdoor seating.
The Odeon
Have an ice-cold martini and a pitch-perfect omelette at the Tribeca boîte that has defined downtown cool since the '80s. Outside tables allow you to dine under the warm glow of its iconic neon sign.
Il Posto Accanto
An East Village institution specializing in Roman-style cooking and Italy's best wines, Il Posto Accanto has tables available outside for local fans as well as those in-the-know uptowners who make regular pilgrimages.
Café Altro Paradiso
While his other hot spots (Flora Bar and Estela) are still closed, Chef Ignacio Mattos's inventive and light Italian cooking is available at his Soho cafe, now with expanded outdoor seating. The menu includes his addictive fennel salad and cacio e pepe as well as award-winning desserts.
Wayan
This charming Nolita restaurant is Cedric Vongerichten's ode to the food of Indonesia. Like his father Jean-Gorges, Cedric offers a take on Asian food that combines bold flavors with modern French flair. Now serving outside on Spring Street, guests can enjoy the satays, corn fritters, and pandan custard while imagining themselves at one of Jakarta's famous night markets.
Houseman
With Greenwich Street closed to traffic, Houseman has transformed into a large sidewalk cafe. Head down to this West Soho gem for Chef Ned Baldwin's simple and delicious market driven food and the best Manhattan in town.
